Questions

Yes. Licensed cannabis businesses can advertise on streaming TV in states that allow it, when the ad meets that state's rules. Adult-use marijuana is still illegal under federal law, and many networks and platforms don't accept cannabis ads. Most of the states we cover require evidence that a minimum share of the audience is 21 or older, some require specific warnings in the ad, and all ban content that appeals to minors. The rules differ by state: Colorado, California, New York, Nevada and Missouri.

Most states require reliable evidence that a minimum share of the audience is 21 or older.
  • Colorado and California use 71.6%.
  • Nevada bars ads where 30% or more of the audience is expected to be under 21.
  • New York ties its threshold to the state's 21+ population share.
  • Missouri sets no percentage.

It depends on the state. New York lets you show its warning on screen or read it aloud. Nevada requires two warnings in every ad. Colorado and California require warnings only for certain products, and Missouri requires none in ads. Our team has run cannabis advertising campaigns in California, Missouri, Nevada, New York and Oklahoma, and we check every spot against the state's current rules before it runs.

We keep every cannabis campaign inside the state that licensed it. Moving cannabis across state lines is still illegal under federal law, and some states bar ads that encourage it.

Federal hemp rules change on November 12 and December 11, 2026, and several states have their own hemp laws. We review every hemp-derived THC campaign against both before it runs.

No. These pages summarize published rules as of the date shown, to explain how we plan campaigns. You're responsible for your own license and compliance; confirm current requirements with your counsel and your state regulator.
